Tragedy struck on a St. Louis road early this morning in a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of an unidentified man. According to SLMPD officials, the man was found dead on the 3800 block of Lee at around 1:45 a.m. by a witness. Law enforcement stated that the vehicle involved in the initial collision fled the scene prior to their arrival.
While information on the incident is still forthcoming, authorities confirmed that the man was subsequently hit by a second vehicle, the driver of which remained at the scene. This second collision occurred as the witness was present. It serves to remind us that often, outcomes which should never unfold, do indeed happen in the span where darkness covers the judgment of those who, momentarily, decide to quickly turn away from the devastation they leave in their wake.
Earlier in the night, around 1 a.m., a report had been made regarding a person dancing and lying in the road in the same location. The man who would later become the victim of the tragic event had, at that time, refused medical attention. The sequence of these events has placed Accident Reconstruction units at the heart of the ongoing investigation, looking to piece together the chain of circumstances that led to this fatal outcome.
At present, the identity of the man remains unknown as officials are presumably working to notify the next of kin.
