
Authorities are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman yesterday at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Chimney Rock Road, Houston. The victim's identity is still under wraps, pending official confirmation from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, as per the City of Houston's website.
The incident unfolded as the young woman, riding a purple Yamaha YZF motorcycle, was reportedly seen weaving through traffic northbound, near the scene of the accident. Witnesses claimed that she ran the red light at the Woodway Street intersection, resulting in her motorcycle colliding with a brown Mercedes-Benz GLC-300, which was making a sanctioned left turn at the time from Chimney Rock onto Woodway. Running the red light, the motorcycle struck the car, ending fatally for the motorcyclist.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division officials, Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer J. Tran, shared details from the initial investigation. According to the City of Houston News, the motorcyclist was ejected from her vehicle after the crash and was soon after declared deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics arriving at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes, who remained on site following the collision, was questioned by the authorities and then released.
