A tragic crash ended a man’s life early last Friday. The Houston Police Department is investigating the fatal collision, which occurred around 3:10 a.m. in the 8300 block of Eastex Freeway, according to City of Houston News. A white Nissan Versa and a black Ford Explorer, both heading southbound, collided when the Versa struck the Explorer.

The force of the impact reportedly caused the Explorer to swerve sharply and roll over towards the median. In the chaos that followed, a silver Chevrolet Silverado collided with the overturned Explorer, resulting in a secondary accident. As per the officers in charge, Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer R. Guzman, both the drivers of the Nissan and the Chevrolet stayed to face the aftermath, were duly questioned, and showed no signs to definitely suggest intoxication.

Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department arrived promptly at the scene. Their efforts, however, could not save the 66-year-old driver of the Ford Explorer, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Chevrolet Silverado was also injured, though the injuries were not life-threatening, and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing the investigation to understand the events leading to this fatal incident.
