A father and son tandem stands accused of robbery following a physical altercation over a vehicle sale. The incident, which unfolded in the 17600 block of Stuebner Airline Road, resulted in the arrest of Ronaldo Portillo Vasquez and Jose Vasquez Molina after deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a disturbance call on Sunday.
According to Constable Herman's Facebook post, one of the suspects, Ronaldo Portillo Vasquez had feigned interest in purchasing a vehicle from the victim, but the supposed sale quickly turned violent when Vasquez and his father claimed that they were wronged by the complainant over a bad vehicle sale, spiraling into them assaulting the complainant and forcibly taking the title of the car. Despite the simplicity of the transaction, the suspects possibly believed that reciprocity in kind rather than law ought to govern their disputes a quick escalation from commerce to coercion ensued.
The report, as seen on the Constable's official Facebook page, details that "Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Robbery. Ronaldo Vasquez Portillo's bond was set at $12,500.00 and Jose Vasquez Molina's bond was set at $7,500.00 out of the 496th District Court."
