An explosion rocked an industrial facility in Temple on Tuesday morning, resulting in severe burns for five employees. According to a CBS Austin report, the incident occurred at Delta Centrifugal at 3402 Center St., prompting a quick response from Temple Fire and Rescue around 11:30 a.m. The team encountered heavy smoke and flames upon arrival.

As detailed by Temple Fire and Rescue's social media post, firefighters immediately commenced life safety operations and extinguishment efforts. Found to have suffered severe burns, workers evacuated the facility; five employees were transported to the emergency room. Despite the severity of the injuries, they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The staff at the facility indicated that the explosion involved an induction furnace, which contained approximately 10,000 pounds of molten metal heated to a sweltering 2,900 degrees. The cause of the explosion is currently under an ongoing investigation.

Firefighting efforts managed to control the blaze promptly. Temple Fire and Rescue deployed a substantial force to tackle the emergency, consisting of 13 units and 27 personnel, jointly working with Temple Police Department and Temple EMS. While the crews worked on the scene, a stretch of Center Street remained closed, and traffic was advised to steer clear of the area for safety.
