A former Billerica police officer has been charged with aggravated rape of a child and possession of child pornography, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office confirmed. The suspect, 35-year-old Alexander Allen, was indicted by a Middlesex Grand Jury on allegations involving a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl, according to a report from the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
Allen, who had served as a member of the Billerica Police Department, reportedly admitted to another officer in 2023 that he was intimately involved with the teenager. This admission prompted an investigation, which revealed that Allen had first met the victim when she was 14 years old. In March 2021, months prior to her sixteenth birthday, Allen picked up the victim from an appointment and brought her to her residence, where he proceeded to, allegedly, engage sexually with her. It was further discovered that he later solicited and received a nude photograph of the victim before her eighteenth birthday.
The District Attorney's office, along with the Billerica Police Department, conducted the investigation that led to Allen's indictment. As per the press release, the arraignment is set for October 25, 2024, at the Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn.
Maren Schrader is the prosecutor on the case, and Cheri MacDonald is the victim witness advocate. The case against Alexander Allen puts forth serious allegations, pointing to a reprehensible breach of trust by a former law enforcement officer. More details will likely emerge following the upcoming arraignment.
