Fort Collins residents and commuters are advised of an imminent full roadway closure on Shields St between LaPorte Ave and Mountain Ave set to start on the 23rd of October, as announced by Fort Collins Utilities. Detours will be marked for navigating around the closure, and although the roadwork may somewhat limit the convenience, residential access will be kept open. The pathways for those traveling by foot will also stay clear throughout the project's duration, according to the City of Fort Collins.
Corresponding with this closure is another on Shields St between Mountain Ave and Akin Ave, both aimed at facilitating the Oak Street Water System Improvement Project. Even with the inconvenience caused by the roadwork, the traffic flow on both east and west-bound Mountain Ave at Shields St will continue uninterrupted.
Fort Collins Utilities, alongside its general contractor Connell Resources, has scheduled these infrastructural improvements to take place between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm from Monday to Friday. Provided that weather conditions do not pose any unforeseen hurdles, the work is expected to conclude by November 1st, as per the City of Fort Collins.
The ongoing Collections System Replacement Project that first took off in September this year aims to overhaul aging sewer infrastructure citywide. In a meticulous effort to update Fort Collins' systems, the replacements of century-old sewer mains along the north Shields St. corridor are being undertaken incrementally each year.
