Fort Worth is gearing up to proudly celebrate the service of its military veterans with the Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade. Set for 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11. The event invites the community to honor military service members and immerse in the city's deep-rooted military history. To kick off the celebration, an opening ceremony is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. at Panther Island Pavilion. From there, attendees can watch the procession embark from the Pavilion's parking lot, stride down North Forest Park Blvd, meander past the new Fort Worth City Hall, and culminate back at the starting point.
The 2024 edition of the parade is not just a mark of remembrance but concurrently a celebration of Fort Worth's 175th anniversary. This year's theme, "Saluting Cowtown – From Frontier Soldiers to Space Frontiers & More", endeavors to bridge the city's historical past with its futuristic aspirations. According to the City of Fort Worth, the parade, a tradition beginning in 1919, will honor the legacy of those who participated in the World War I armistice procession - ensuring their bravery is not just remembered but is celebrated across centuries.
Expressing the significance of this annual event, the City of Fort Worth's Veterans Affairs Officer Joaquin Castillo emphasized its communal importance. "The Veterans Day Parade is a wonderful event that gives all ages of our community an opportunity to come together to recognize and celebrate the brave men and women who served our country," Castillo said, as per the City of Fort Worth. He added a note of admiration for the organizers, "Not only does the event celebrate our veterans, but many of the folks who work hard to put on this event are veterans themselves, and it’s been an honor to work with the members of the Tarrant County Veterans Council to organize this year’s event."
