Quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele of Campbell High School, who had committed to Cal in July, seems to be rethinking his options. As per Hawaii News Now, Sagapolutele has scheduled an official visit to Oregon. He's turned heads this season, leading the Sabers to an undefeated record, and his performance has not gone unnoticed. The interest from other collegiate powerhouses such as the Ducks, Georgia, and Utah is indicative of his rising prominence on the gridiron.
Amidst the frenzy of recruitment, the four-star Ewa Beach quarterback is set to check out the scene at Eugene when Oregon faces Illinois this weekend, a significant matchup between rank contenders. According to a report from On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the Oregon staff has been vying for Sagapolutele's attention since they offered him back in September, and finally, they're securing a visit.
"Being able to get on the phone with Coach Dan Lanning, Coach Will Stein, is actually just really a blessing 'cause Oregon’s been my dream school ever since I was young," Sagapolutele said in an interview obtained by ScoopDuck. Oregon's pursuit of Sagapolutele has been rigorous - his versatility and skill on the field make him a valuable prospect for any team.
Before deciding on Cal, Sagapolutele had official visits to Boise State and Oregon State. Attending events like the Elite 11 in June raised his profile, attracting interest from major programs. His visit to Oregon could be a big deal for both his future and the Ducks' roster. Recruiters Steve Wiltfong and Justin Hopkins from On3 believe Sagapolutele is likely to commit to Oregon, adding excitement to the recruiting process.
