The Columbus Police Department has announced the arrest of a fourth suspect in connection with a recent homicide that occurred on the East Side of Columbus. Marcus J. Person Jr., a 20-year-old black male, was arrested last Thursday by Columbus Police SWAT personnel on a warrant for Murder, as reported in a media release put out by the Columbus Division of Police. His arrest follows the apprehension of two other suspects, Sincere Langford and Terrell Felton, who were also taken into custody last Thursday without any incident.
The case stems from a shooting incident on September 19, when Columbus Police Patrol officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of E. 12th Avenue after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Rayshawn Rogers, the male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition by CFD Medic personnel. However, despite attempts to save him, Rogers was pronounced deceased on September 21. In their ongoing investigation, Columbus Police Homicide Unit detectives quickly pursued and apprehended all suspects to prevent further harm.
On the same day of Person Jr.'s arrest, another suspect related to the case, Mr. Kenrell Felton, 19, turned himself in at the Columbus Police Headquarters. He faces a murder warrant connected to the same violent event, according to details outlined in the department's official communication. These developments come as a part of concentrated efforts by the Homicide Unit, led by Detective Thomas and assisted by Detective Phillips, to bring those responsible to justice. Authorities continue to urge anyone who might have information about the shooting to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
