Medicare can be a maze of regulations and options, and the City of Surprise is stepping in to help residents navigate their way through it. Offering a series of free workshops designed to clarify Medicare's intricacies, Surprise’s very own State Health Insurance Assistance Program Counselor, Roberta Ezratty, will be leading these informative sessions, according to the City of Surprise.

In an effort to provide the community with key information, topics on the agenda include an explanation of how and when to apply, coverage details, enrollment guidelines, and forthcoming changes in 2025. These classes are open to all - no registration is required, and those who decide to walk in last minute are welcomed just the same, as per the City of Surprise.

The workshops come at no cost to attendees and span several dates and locations to accommodate as many people as possible. Sessions will take place on Tuesday, November 12 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and Friday, November 15 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a Monday, December 2 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. slot, all at the Surprise Senior Center located at 15382 Hollyhock St. Additionally, other sessions are set for Wednesday, November 13 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 26 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and Tuesday, December 3 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Surprise Resource Center on 12425 W. Bell Rd., Ste 124, as reported by the City of Surprise.

Given that Medicare decisions can significantly impact one's access to health care and benefits, these workshops can be vital in helping beneficiaries make informed insurance decisions. As dictated by the City of Surprise announcement, State Health Insurance Assistance Program is a free health benefits counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries which remains unaffiliated with any insurance industry - asserting their dedication to objectivity and empowerment through education. They are funded by the federal Administration for Community Living, maintaining their independence and overarching mission to serve the Medicare-eligible population.
