
The National Weather Service in Washington D.C. has issued a Freeze Warning that is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 p.m. EDT tomorrow. This warning comes as a sharp drop in temperatures is expected to go as low as 30 degrees, impacting the District of Columbia and parts of Maryland and Virginia.
The warning specifies significant areas that will experience the sub-freezing temperatures, including parts of DC, central, northeast, and southern Maryland, as well as central and northern Virginia. The NWS urges the public to "take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold." They also warn that freeze conditions could potentially harm crops, sensitive vegetation, and potentially to every bit endanger unprotected outdoor plumbing, according to the issued statement.
Clear skies are expected after the freeze, with daytime highs reaching around 61 today and rising to the 80s by Thursday. The weather for the week looks mild and mostly sunny, with highs between the mid-60s and upper 70s.
The Freeze Warning will end Monday morning, and the NWS has not forecasted any hazardous weather for the rest of the week. Spotters won’t be needed, but there’s a 30% chance of showers Thursday night into Friday.
