Residents of Fulton County are learning more about their local election process through the Fulton County Citizens University (FCCU) program. This curriculum educates the community on county government operations, particularly the election mechanisms. With the help of Voter Education & Outreach Manager LaShandra Little, participants are gaining firsthand knowledge of the measures in place to secure and streamline the voting process.
According to Fulton County's website, the recent session emphasized how different divisions within the elections department collaborate to ensure a smooth electoral process. Participants learned about the responsibilities of all 10 divisions, covering everything from absentee ballot handling to preparations for early voting and Election Day management.
One significant component of the educational tour was an overview of the information systems division. Participants were instructed on the logic and accuracy testing that ensures the validity and trustworthiness of the voting machines and systems. Another crucial topic covered was how voters should proceed if problems arise while attempting to cast their ballots.
This initiative by FCCU is designed to enhance voter confidence and knowledge in the electoral process, ensuring that the residents of Fulton are not just voters but informed participants in their democracy.
