The City of Garland announced the launch of a new makerspace housed within the Central Library Express, where patrons will soon be able to harness the power of modern technology to innovate and create personal projects. This space will feature a range of maker machines including 3D printers, a Cricut cutter, a laser cutter, soldering irons, and sewing machines.
As per the details shared by the City of Garland, the initiative will require users to complete an introductory course before they unlock the potential to utilize the machines during the Open Lab hours or to participate in master classes.
This educational venture is not the fruit of municipal funds alone but is also bolstered by external support, specifically a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the purview of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, Grant # LS-256843-OLS-21, as reported by the City of Garland.
"The makerspace will be open to adults and teens," as stated by the City of Garland.
