Georgia's economic outlook is brightening with Governor Brian P. Kemp's announcement that TMC Transformers USA Inc. will invest over $15.3 million in a new facility in Burke County. This investment is expected to create at least 110 new jobs. Kemp noted that the initiative will provide opportunities for Georgians and help the region recover from recent natural disasters. “TMC’s decision to create over 100 well-paying jobs in Burke County comes at a critical time, and we look forward to their impact as that region of our state continues to recover and rebuild following the recent hurricanes,” Kemp said in the Office of the Governor website.
TMC has been operating its first American production plant in Burke County since early 2023 and is eager to integrate its expertise with the evolving U.S. energy market. “Combining our expertise in the dry-type transformer industry with the needs of the U.S. market for accessible, reliable, and sustainable energy, the launch of the new plant highlights TMC’s strategic plans for substantial growth in North America,” said TMC USA President Cristiano Palladini in the release from the Office of the Governor. The new facility will offer opportunities across various roles, including management, testing, and sales. Interested applicants can find details at tmctransformers.us.
Austin Stacy, Executive Director of the Development Authority of Burke County, noted that TMC's decision to locate there reflects the strong workforce and readiness of the area. The Development Authority, along with the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), played a key role in securing TMC's investment.
GDEcD officials focused on TMC during overseas missions to build lasting partnerships. “After meeting with TMC's leadership in Italy, we were truly impressed by their warmth, hospitality, and enthusiasm for their decision to invest in Georgia,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. He highlighted the significance of TMC's products for both state and national energy infrastructure, noting that the transformers will be crucial for energy management in various sectors, including utilities and marine, as per the Office of the Governor website.
This latest partnership strengthens the state's ties with Italy, which was a top 15 trade partner for Georgia in 2023, according to state trade data. The growing relationship with Italian companies, including over $411 million in investments, marks another step in Georgia's efforts to attract international business and technological advancement.
