Maricopa County has reached the conclusion of a case involving teen violence and drug-related crimes, with 19-year-old Kyler Renner being sentenced to two years in prison. Renner pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including solicitation to commit possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and aggravated assault, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
At the center of Renner's legal issues is an assault that occurred in a Gilbert parking garage in December 2022, part of a series of criminal activities spanning two years. He was also implicated in incidents of drug possession and sale in March 2023 and January of this year.
"This defendant had a high negative influence in the juvenile community not only committing violent crimes but also distributing dangerous drugs to the community,” County Attorney Rachel Mitchell told 12 News. Renner's sentencing also draws connections to the so-called "Gilbert Goon" group, a name that may reflect broader issues within youth culture. Some members of this group face charges related to the murder of 16-year-old Preston Lord.
During the trial, the prosecution noted Renner's use of brass knuckles in the 2022 assault. This detail reflects the severity of the incident, and Renner is now facing the consequences of his actions.
