Commuters in Grand Haven are being advised to allow for extra travel time this weekend as Harbor Transit announces delays due to road construction. According to FOX 17, the closure of I-96 is expected to reroute a significant amount of traffic to M-104 between October 19-21, which could potentially extend the ride times for public transport users.
Harbor Transit's social media post further stated that "a road closure on I-96 is expected to cause a significant increase in traffic along the M-104 corridor on October 19 - 21." They also recommended that "If you are riding on October 19 - 21, we recommend planning extra time for your ride." This comes as a timely reminder for those planning to quickly move through the city during the construction period.
Riders looking to avoid any inconvenience are encouraged to use the Lakeshore Go app, a digital tool that allows passengers to track their buses in real time. The Harbor Transit service has provided the app to slightly alleviate the stress of travel uncertainties during the road work schedule.
