"Happy National First Responders Day. Our deepest appreciation goes out to all #FirstResponders for the tireless work they do every day," a post on the department's official Facebook page read.

It’s an opportunity, a reminder, to pause and to duly recognize the brave men and women who often quite literally stand between chaos and order.
