A middle school student on their way to Granite Oaks Middle School was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric bike in Rocklin, confirmed by school officials. The incident occurred near Stanford Ranch Road and Breen Drive around 8 a.m. on Thursday, according to a report by CBS News Sacramento.
The Rocklin Police Department noted that, although the juvenile suffered moderate injuries, drugs and alcohol do not suspect as factors in the crash. After the collision, the student was alert and the subsequent treatment at the hospital commenced. "The involved driver remained at the scene," as per the account detailed by CBS News Sacramento. Meanwhile, a separate rear-end crash involving another vehicle led to further traffic delays in the area.
KCRA 3 reported that the secondary crash resulted in a grey car suffering major front-end damage, captured in video footage from the scene. The traffic congestion stemming from both incidents prompted the authorities to caution drivers to avoid the area as of 8:10 a.m. By 9:11 a.m., the roadway was fully reopened, as confirmed by KCRA 3.
Earlier this week, students at Granite Oaks Middle School took part in an e-bike safety lesson. This was an important step by the district to prevent accidents.
