Redmond residents have a green opportunity to actively partake in the conservation of their city's natural beauty. The Forest Stewards, known for their consistent efforts, invite the community to come together for Green Redmond Day, slated for Saturday, Oct. 26. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., volunteers are welcome to assist in tree planting along the Viewpoint Open Space Trail. All necessary tools, gloves, and guidance will be provided on-site and interested parties need not have any prior experience, merely a willingness to engage with the dirt and the elements.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up before the event to ensure sufficient supplies are available. According to the city's announcement, the community's hands-on help is invaluable for the upkeep of local parks and the environmental well-being of Redmond. Appropriate attire is recommended so that individuals can comfortably work, irrespective of weather conditions.

Simultaneously, a second endeavor offers environmental enthusiasts an additional avenue to contribute. Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., community members can join forces to rejuvenate a 4.5-acre park adjacent to Bear Creek. This park, renowned for a trail established in 2006, presents an ideal setting for the planting of native plants and the potential for plant protection work.

Green Redmond Day emphasizes no previous expertise is required. EarthCorps, an integral collaborator in the day's activities, supplies all the necessary equipment along with water and snack bars to keep volunteers motivated. It’s an educational experience, and residents are invited to "just come ready to learn something new." Interested individuals should ensure they register in advance to secure their spot in the day's conservation efforts, as detailed by the City of Redmond official website.
