Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Brian A. Bailey as chair of the Texas Facilities Commission. Bailey has been with the commission since May 2019 and became chair in May 2023. His new term will last for one year. Under his leadership, the commission will continue to focus on managing state buildings and properties, including overseeing the construction of the Texas border wall.
According to the Office of the Texas Governor website, Governor Abbott's administration has expressed confidence in Brian A. Bailey's ability to lead ongoing projects and tackle the logistical challenges of building the border wall. Bailey's involvement with the Greater Austin Crime Commission and the UT Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee reflects his strong ties to the community and higher education. These connections may enhance his qualifications for the chair position in a state where crime and education are significant issues.
Bailey has a strong educational background in business, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from UT Austin and an MBA from the University of Houston. His business skills are essential for the commission, which handles many financial decisions related to state infrastructure and buildings that support the Texas government.
