Devin Moore Rose, 32, has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years for the shooting death of Justin Graver in October 2023. This sentencing comes after a trial that concluded with a guilty verdict for second-degree murder using a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm charges.
The fatal incident took place on October 7, 2023, when Gresham Police were called to a reported shooting at 901 SW Highland Drive. At the scene, they discovered Graver's body with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators found 14 shell casings at the scene and obtained video surveillance footage showing an altercation between Graver and another man who later fired the shots. According to a press release reported by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, Rose was identified as a suspect after his personal items and the clothes matching those worn by the shooter in the video were found discarded near the crime scene.
Detective work led to the recovery of a bag containing a gun, clothes, and items left on a local resident's front porch. The firearm found was forensically matched to shell casings from the crime scene. The Oregon Department of Corrections has taken custody of Rose following his sentencing on Tuesday, as mentioned in the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office statement.
In the course of the investigation, detectives tracked down a white SUV associated with the incident, which was rented to an associate of Rose. A search of the vehicle turned up Rose's driver's license and personal mail. Deputy District Attorney Brian Davidson prosecuted the case during the trial that spanned from September 11 to September 19, 2024. The conviction was achieved with the help of several individuals, and their contributions were commended by the District Attorney's Office. Among those recognized were GPD Detective Martin Daly, MCDA Investigator Matt Estes, and MCDA Victim Advocate Allison Miller for their efforts to resolve the case.
