Last night, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Pittsburgh's Homewood North neighborhood was disrupted by the sounds of gunfire detected by ShotSpotter technology. The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department reported that police officers were dispatched to the 7400 block of Race Street following an alert that twelve rounds had been fired. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The responding officers immediately began life-saving measures, which Pittsburgh Fire and EMS personnel continued upon their arrival. Despite these efforts, the victim, notably, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner will release the deceased's identity once proper notifications have been made.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Crime Scene Unit arrived to process the evidence. This included collecting shell casings and examining video footage from nearby cameras as part of the ongoing investigation. According to authorities, the Violent Crime Unit detectives have taken the lead on this case.
Meanwhile, no suspects have been named, and the police urge anyone with information to come forward.
