Harris County deputies encountered a situation at the 21100 block of Tomball Parkway. In a recent Facebook post, Constable Mark Herman described an incident where a man was found asleep at the wheel, surrounded by signs of alcohol consumption and reckless handling of a firearm.

Victor Chuta, the individual in question, sleeping in a handicapped spot behind the wheel with open alcoholic containers in plain view, and an unsecured firearm lounging on the passenger seat, was awakened by deputies responding to the suspicious vehicle call. Clearly displaying signs of intoxication, Chuta was subjected to a series of standardized field sobriety tests which he allegedly failed to navigate successfully.

It wasn't just the suspected drunk driving or the careless handling of the gun that alerted law enforcement. A deeper look into Chuta's background showed he had a history of legal issues. The man driving was a convicted felon, once again caught up in the justice system.

"Victor Chuta was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. His bond was set at $10,100.00 out of the 262nd District Court and County Court 8," according to Precinct 4's Facebook post.
