Authorities in Harris County took a convicted felon into custody after a routine traffic stop turned into an arrest involving a firearm. Constable Mark Herman's Office reported on Facebook that the incident occurred on Sunday, in the 26700 block of the Northwest Freeway, where deputies initially stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
The driver tried to trick law enforcement by giving a fake name and birth date. However, after an investigation, deputies identified him as Jamarcus Stricklin, who has a history with the criminal justice system. He had an active warrant for aggravated robbery and was found with a loaded firearm.
"Jamarcus Stricklin was arrested and was booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm," as per a statement by Constable Mark Herman. The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb firearm-related crimes, especially among previously convicted individuals.
Stricklin now faces new charges with a set bond amounting to $40,000.00, ordered by the 184th District Court.
