Harris County Deputy Hospitalized After Suspected Drunk Driver Collision Near State Highway 290

A deputy with the Harris County Constable's Office is currently receiving medical treatment after a collision incident involving a suspected drunk driver yesterday. As reported by FOX 26 Houston, the deputy was offering assistance to a stranded commercial vehicle on the 7100 block of West Sam Houston Tollway North near State Highway 290 at the time of the accident.

While the deputy was engaged in roadside duties, the driver of another vehicle, accused of being under the influence of alcohol, rear-ended his patrol car, this serious incident promptly led to an arrest after the driver displayed multiple signs of intoxication, the accused now faces a DWI charge and is currently being held at the Harris County Jail.

Concerning the well-being of the constable deputy, details on the specific injuries suffered are sparse, though it is known he was transported to a local hospital for urgent care. CW39 noted that the accident took place on the Sam Houston Tollway, reiterating that the law enforcement officer was actively attending to a vehicle breakdown during the time of the crash.
