Last Saturday in Novato, a high-speed chase ensued after a burglary was reported at a local tobacco store. The pursuit, initially begun by the Novato Police, turned into a collective effort, with the CHP Marin officers taking the lead on US-101 southbound.
The suspect, pushing the limits of the stolen vehicle up to speeds over 130 MPH, led officers across county lines. According to an update by CHP Marin, the chase continued on I-580 eastbound and reached its conclusion in Richmond, where the suspect crashed.
Despite their crash, the suspect attempted to flee the scene, only to be swiftly apprehended by the CHP Marin officers. Searching the wreckage brought officers to a cache of stolen tobacco goods, evidently taken from the Novato burglary. In a statement by Novato Police, the recovered goods amounted to thousands of dollars.
