Hillsborough County Solid Waste has temporarily suspended curbside pickup of trash, recycling, and yard waste due to the approaching storm. Residents are advised not to put out any waste for collection until the storm passes. Services are expected to resume on Friday if conditions are safe, and missed pickups will be collected on the next regularly scheduled days.

For those seeking to quickly clear debris, the county is extending operating hours at three Community Collection Center sites. These centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. both today and tomorrow. Accepted items include yard waste, household furniture, and appliances, but residents should note that no photo ID is required to drop off items at these facilities. It's worth noting that the Alderman's Ford and Wimauma Solid Waste Facilities will also be operating under extended hours but will notably not accept yard waste and wood.

The Resource Recovery Facility, open 24 hours a day until further notice, provides another venue for disposing of yard waste, construction materials, and an array of household items, as per Hillsborough County's announcement.  However, it does not accept hazardous waste or regular garbage, which may be inconvenient for those needing to dispose of these materials.

Residents are encouraged to register for HCFL Alert, the county’s emergency notification system, to stay updated on developments. Everyone can receive these important updates, whether online or by calling the storm information hotline, available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
