The lively streets of Holly Springs may soon find some relief as the town continues its road widening project. Currently, efforts are underway to expand Holly Springs Road to a uniform four-lane, median-divided stretch, with the focus shifting to the section from Main Street to Flint Point Lane, near Fire Station 1. Those interested in details or wishing to provide input can attend a community session. The Town of Holly Springs has scheduled the meeting for October 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, where residents can speak with the project team.
Construction is progressing between Flint Point Lane and Sunset Lake Road. With the new bridge and lanes open, attention is now focused on the southern roads and an upcoming roundabout near Holly Ridge Elementary. This phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, as noted in a statement on the Town of Holly Springs website. After that, construction will shift to the area near Main Street.
"Widening Holly Springs Road to be consistently four lanes with safe bicycle and pedestrian routes will help with increased traffic and new 540 interchange on the roadway," Transportation Engineer Tim Athy detailed on the project's intentions. An added benefit of the road project is the new bridge over Middle Creek, which will help prevent the frequent road closures that often occurred during heavy rain. Residents interested in upcoming project phases or who have concerns are encouraged to attend the information session later this month, as stated by the Town of Holly Springs.
