More than a year and a half after the fatal shooting at an apartment complex on West Greens Road, the suspect has been arrested and is facing murder charges. The Houston Police Department confirmed that Kyle Andrew Coolack, 37, was taken into custody yesterday in connection with the death of his brother, Brad Henry Coolack, 35, which occurred on March 11, 2022.
Authorities were able to quickly identify Kyle Andrew Coolack as a person of interest after witnesses reported hearing an argument followed by multiple gunshots. The Houston Police Department's Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective K. Lovelace continued to meticulously gather evidence to conclusively establish Kyle Coolack's involvement. On July 15, 2022, he was formally charged with murder. Despite the delays, justice seems to now swiftly be coming to meet Kyle Coolack.
According to the HPD's statement, officers initially responded to the incident shortly before midnight to find Brad Coolack inside an apartment at 7250 West Greens Road, having been shot several times. The first responders pronounced him deceased at the scene. Brad's passing was unexpected and marked yet another grim family tragedy that underscores the personal nature of many violent crimes.
Kyle Coolack was arrested without incident by deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department. He remains in the custody of Calhoun County, Iowa, awaiting to be extradited back to Harris County where he will face the legal proceedings for his actions.
