A 19-year-old Houston resident, Dillan Alexander, has been charged with the murder of his mother, officials said. The Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) responded to calls on October 19 around 2 a.m., about a woman shot in the parking lot of the Rest Well Inn, located at 222 West Airtex Boulevard, as reported by FOX 26 Houston.
Alexander turned himself in to investigators following the death of his mother, Kimberly Alexander, 45, who was found shot and later pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital by private vehicle. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez revealed that, in addition to murder, Dillan Alexander faces charges of tampering with evidence, although the motive remains unclear, Click2Houston reports.
According to FOX 26 Houston, when authorities arrived at the scene the night of the incident, Kimberly Alexander could not be located. It was only after HCA Hospital called in, reporting a woman with a gunshot wound, that it was confirmed to be the missing woman from the parking lot. A family member had reportedly dropped Kimberly off at the hospital but departed before law enforcement could obtain a statement.
The recent high-profile case continues to develop as the community grapples with the tragic loss. Sheriff Gonzalez, speaking on the ongoing investigation said, "The motive behind the shooting is not clear at this time," emphasizing the open questions that remain in this family tragedy, as per Click2Houston reports.
