The Houston Fire Department was among the first respondents to the site, where witnesses had reportedly seen the helicopter become engulfed by flames after striking the 1,000-foot-tall radio tower, according to the Houston Chronicle. Robinson Helicopter Company disputes such claims, insisting, "are safe and reliable when flown within their operating limits," and suggesting that the FAA's undercounting of flight hours could lead to an inflated accident rate.
