Houston Parking Lot Scene Escalates into Gunfire, Leaving Man Critically Injured After Vehicle CollisionSource: Google Street View

A man has been left in critical condition after a parking lot confrontation turned violent earlier today in southwest Houston. The incident, which involved a driver being shot four times, occurred after his vehicle was struck by a truck in a parking lot known for its congregation of food trucks alongside apartment buildings.

As reported by KHOU, the confrontation began shortly before 12:30 a.m., after the truck backed into a car where the victim and another person were seated. The two men confronted the driver of the truck, leading to an argument and, ultimately, gunshots. According to Lt. Wilkins of the Houston Police Department, the victim was shot in the back four times following the heated exchange.

Bystanders at the scene acted swiftly to disarm the suspect, wrestling the gun away from him. "When that happened, the suspect took off and left," said Lt. R. Willkens as he described the chaotic turn of events to ABC13. The identity of the gunman is currently known to the authorities; however, an arrest has yet to be made in the case.

The Houston Police Department, while they have a suspect in mind, continues its investigation into the shooting. They urge anyone with additional information to come forward and contact HPD's Major Assaults Division at (713)-308-8800.
