Houston police are currently investigating a shooting that led to the death of a man last night on Mayford Street, at approximately 10:20 p.m. The identity of the 45-year-old male victim is still to be released, pending the notification of next of kin by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, as reported by the City of Houston News.
According to a statement obtained by the City of Houston News, HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Lafour and A. Hernandez relayed that officers responded swiftly to a distress call about the shooting at 600 Mayford Street where they discovered the man in a wounded state and despite the fact Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene, he was pronounced dead soon after their arrival. Witnesses at the scene recounted an argument involving the victim and several other individuals, which escalated until a suspect produced a firearm and discharged it, fatally wounding the man the suspect then fled the scene and remains at large.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the individual responsible for the shooting.
