Houston authorities are piecing together the details surrounding the death of a 38-year-old woman whose body was discovered late Monday night at a residence on Allston Street. As first reported by the City of Houston News, police were called to the scene following a report suggesting a suicide, only for them to encounter a more troubling scenario.
Upon arrival at the 816 Allston Street home around 11:30 p.m., officers found the unnamed woman unresponsive. Family members are believed to have made the initial grim discovery. After paramedics rushed the woman to an area hospital, she was pronounced deceased, her life cut short, possessing bruises and evidence of trauma to her face. The exact chain of events leading up to the woman's death is still under investigation by the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, with Detectives J. Diaz and A. Ledford at the helm, according to the City of Houston News.
An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences should offer important clues as to the cause and manner of the woman's death. Meanwhile, the HPD is calling on the public to come forward with any relevant information, urging anyone who might know something to contact the HPD Homicide Division directly or to reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
