Houston Police Department is currently conducting an investigation following the discovery of a male body found unresponsive behind a business center at 5409 South Rice Avenue. The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. yesterday, as reported by the City of Houston News. The identity of the deceased is yet to be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Officers from the HPD were dispatched to the scene in response to the report of the deceased individual. Upon arrival, they encountered the male, who is believed to be homeless, and unresponsive. Paramedics at the scene pronounced the individual deceased. The preliminary examination suggests injuries consistent with strangulation, although the official cause of death awaits an autopsy.
Detectives A. Ledford and G. Zavala of the HPD Homicide Division are leading the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, who arrived on the scene, will conduct further analysis to determine the exact cause of death.
