A woman was detained and subsequently charged with assaulting a peace officer following her involvement in a vehicle crash incident on West Lake Houston Parkway. The Harris County Constable's Office has reported that during an investigation of a minor collision that occurred yesterday, the woman, who has been identified as Tiffani Scales, entered a car at the scene that she did not own and refused to leave when instructed by deputies.
While in custody in the backseat of a patrol car, Scales allegedly continued to behave violently, kicking the patrol car's door. Attempts by deputies to restrain her resulted in one female deputy being kicked in the stomach/groin area, according to the official Facebook page of Constable Mark Herman's Office. Notably, Scales was out on bond for a separate charge of Criminal Mischief at the time of the incident.
Constable Herman's office further elaborated in a Facebook post, "Tiffani Scales was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Assault on a Peace Officer. Her bond was set at $20,000.00 out of the 208th District Court."
Further details of the encounter will likely come out during judicial proceedings if Scales contests the charges.
