The Department of Public Works invites locals to a community outreach meeting to discuss necessary Whiskey Bottom West Pond repairs. According to a Howard County press release, the meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 3rd. At this meeting, community members can hear directly from officials about a project to rehabilitate a deteriorating stormwater pond north of 9906 Whiskey Bottom Road in Laurel.
The DPW's Stormwater Management Division plans to revamp the area by lining the current metal outlet spillway pipe with a durable, more resilient material. This measure is expected to strengthen the pipe and prolong its life. In addition to these repairs, the dam will be improved alongside other enhancements to ensure the pond meets the Maryland Department of the Environment's latest standards.
Residents interested in the project will find the meeting in the Hammond Room at the North Laurel Community Center. County staff and project consultants will present the design plans, followed by a session for attendees to ask questions and provide their input.
