
Early Wednesday morning traffic on southbound I-15 in Las Vegas came to a standstill, as law enforcement conducted an investigation into a freeway shooting. According to 8 News Now, the incident occurred near southbound I-15 and Washington Avenue around 5:30 a.m., prompting a complete closure of the roadway at Lake Mead Boulevard. The resultant backup extended to near Craig Road, disrupting the flow of vehicles and morning routines of countless commuters.
By 7:30 a.m., Nevada State Police were able to partially reopen the interstate, allowing traffic to pass through the three left travel lanes, while the two right lanes remained closed for the ongoing investigation. As reported by KTNV, despite the partial reopening, travelers were advised to anticipate delays as all the southbound lanes were not yet fully operational.
The victim of the shooting was transported to University Medical Center and found to be suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting are currently limited, with investigations by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department still active at the scene. Authorities have not released any information on potential suspects or what may have led up to the shooting, as per KTNV.
