The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has taken a digital leap with the introduction of its new online professional licensing platform, the Comprehensive Online Regulatory Environment (CORE). Announced by the State of Illinois, this system is set to ease the process for a swath of IDFPR-licensed professionals, offering an end to the days of paper applications and the frustrations that came with them.
Under CORE, professionals seeking licensure will now navigate a digital environment, one where they can manage their application materials and avoid the common pitfalls that lead to deficient submissions. In the words of IDFPR Secretary Mario Treto, Jr., "Everyone wanting to earn a living in Illinois in the 21st century should have tools of the times available so they can be licensed and get to work as soon as possible," as stated by the State of Illinois.
While the state celebrates this milestone, the eyes are on the remaining professionals who have yet to be incorporated into the CORE system. The full transition spans a two-year timeline, with expectations of progress and updates to be consistently delivered by the department. Treto's vision for CORE extends beyond immediate conveniences, suggesting a trajectory toward a finer-tuned system that benefits the state of Illinois and its dedicated workforce long-term. Treto told the State of Illinois, "I look forward to our team fully transitioning our services to this new system over the next two years."
