Commuters in Orangevale experienced major delays after a crash involving a big rig and another vehicle on Tuesday afternoon. The collision happened at the intersection of Hazel and Oak Avenues around 2:52 p.m., blocking the intersection and causing traffic delays that extended beyond the area.
CHP informed KCRA 3, the northbound slow lane on Hazel Avenue will carry the marks of the accident, remaining closed to travelers for approximately two hours. This is to facilitate the response and clearing operations needed after such incidents. At the time of this advisory, it hadn't been made clear whether anyone suffered injuries in the accident.
CHP officials explained that the accident involved a big rig logging truck that collided with a vehicle and also hit a traffic light, as reported by Fox40. The crash occurred around 4 p.m. and the signal light brought down governing northbound lanes, causing only minor injuries
The Sacramento County Department of Transportation is working to repair the damaged traffic light. CHP advises drivers to use alternative routes, like Sunrise Boulevard, to help ease traffic while the situation is resolved.
