Residents of the 4000 block of Block Drive in Irving can sigh relief tonight. According to an update from the Irving Police Department, a suspect who had prompted a SWAT team response is now in custody. There were no reports of significant injuries following the standoff, which led to an hours-long lockdown of the neighborhood.
In an expression of communal solidarity, the residents offered noteworthy support to the law enforcement officers during tense moments. "We can't thank the residents in this area enough. They provided water, ice, snacks, & shade for our officers working. Thank you for your support!" Irving PD posted on its official Facebook page.
Earlier in the day, citizens were urged to avoid the area due to police activity involving a barricaded individual. With the situation resolved, the police perimeter is dismantled, allowing people to return to their homes.
