For the surf-enthused or wave-curious in Jacksonville, there's no longer a need to scan the horizon for the perfect swell. A new surf park, billed as a soon-to-be world-class destination, is making a splash in the city's plans, miles away from the shoreline. According to News4JAX, Aventuur, a surf park developer with a foot in both Australian and Los Angeleno sands, has chosen Jacksonville for its latest venture. If you're thinking surfs up, you're right, but you'll have to wait—the park expects to open its gates in late 2027.
Plotting its territory on 55.27 acres off State Road 9B, the Jacksonville Surf Park at eTown plans to harness the Wavegarden Cove technology, a wave-generating powerhouse that aims to create an authentic surf experience inland. News of the park was also picked up by Jacksonville Today, which extended thanks to its sponsors in the same breath as it celebrated the anticipated arrival of a new local hotspot. Meanwhile, details about civil engineering plans are currently undergoing the city's scrutiny. The Jax Daily Record noted Prosser Prime AE has been tasked with the civil engineering heavy lifting for the project.
The conversation around the new surf park isn't just about catching waves. It's also a narrative of local economic growth, jobs, and another notch in Jacksonville's tourism belt. With The PARC Group at the helm of eTown's development, this surf park scales up from just "another amenity" to a potential magnet for both residents and out-of-towners alike. The company's reputation points towards a polished and deliberate approach to developing spaces that mesh seamlessly with contemporary lifestyles.
