The Jacksonville community will come together to honor Corrections Officer Bradford "Brad" McNew, whose body will be escorted from the Duval County Medical Examiner's Office to Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home today. The procession, comprising members from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department, and other local partners, is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m., marking a somber occasion as the city pays homage to McNew.
According to an announcement on the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office website, the route for the procession will weave through the city, passing several landmarks. Beginning at Jefferson Street, the procession will move to 11th Street, then to Boulevard Street, and onto 8th Street before returning to Jefferson Street. The final stretch traverses Riverside Avenue towards Edison Avenue, where the journey finds its endpoint. The city is inviting the public to join in the tribute by lining up along the designated areas of the roadways indicated, with the advisory to avoid blocking the travel lanes, and to stand on the sidewalk while heeding the instructions of emergency officials.
