On October 10, a Jefferson Parish man was given a 126-month prison sentence for his intent to distribute a substantial quantity of methamphetamine. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Corey Esquerre, age 50, will also face five years of supervised release following his imprisonment and must pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
Esquerre's conviction follows a joint operation on July 31, 2023, where the Gretna Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration uncovered 3.5 lbs. of methamphetamine in his apartment. The drugs were stashed inside a toolbox in his bedroom, totaling 1880.1 grams of pure methamphetamine, a powerful and highly addictive stimulant, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Following a recent drug bust, U.S. District Judge Wendy B. Vitter sentenced Esquerre earlier this month. The successful arrest and sentencing were the result of teamwork between local and federal agencies
