Police in Dorchester have apprehended a juvenile after an armed robbery turned chase. Last Friday around midday, officers near Harvard Street observed an individual matching the description of a wanted suspect. When law enforcement approached, the person fled, leading to a brief pursuit. According to a statement from the Boston Police Department, during the chase, the suspect discarded what were later identified as two replica firearms.
Officers from the B-3 District in Mattapan observed a youth heading toward a potentially dangerous situation, connected to previous alleged offenses. When the officers exited their cruiser to engage the 15-year-old male, he fled on foot, prompting a pursuit. This incident follows an allegation of armed robbery, for which the suspect was wanted for using a firearm to intimidate and steal.
During his arrest, the suspect was found to be the person of interest in an armed robbery that happened just days prior. The robbery occurred last Wednesday afternoon at a location on Park Street, where the thief displayed a weapon and absconded with $600. Fleeing the scene, he left behind clothing items on Norwell Street, as per the police report.
The teenage suspect, who had a brief chase with an officer, was apprehended in an alley after discarding what was initially believed to be a real firearm. The recovered items were later identified as replicas. He is scheduled for arraignment at the Dorchester District Court and faces serious criminal charges, with the specifics of his defense still to be determined.
