
A high-stakes incident unfolded in Northwest DC, where a man was robbed of his moped at gunpoint. The Metropolitan Police Department has reported the arrest of a juvenile in connection with the carjacking, which occurred in broad daylight on Thursday.
According to a statement obtained by the Metropolitan Police Department, at around 11:15 a.m., several individuals accosted the victim and forcibly took his moped and other items. In a determined bid to capture the perpetrators, officers located the suspects shortly afterwards, as they were attempting to elude law enforcement on the stolen moped and additional mopeds.
The pursuit came to a head in the 6400 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast, where the suspects tried to escape on mopeds. While the chase may have been chaotic, it resulted in the apprehension of a 17-year-old from Northeast DC. The arrestee is now facing charges including Armed Carjacking and Fleeing from Law Enforcement on a Motor Vehicle.
While one suspect is now in custody, the search continues for the remaining individuals involved in this crime. The police urge anyone with information to come forward, assuring that anonymity can be kept. A hefty reward of up to $10,000 has been offered, hoping to swiftly bring to justice all those responsible for this criminal act.
