An accidental shooting disrupted a family gathering in Northwest Oklahoma City, where a juvenile girl was injured, according to police reports. News 9 reported that the incident occurred at a residence near NW 34th and Penn, where a firearm was unintentionally discharged, striking the girl in the leg.
The Oklahoma City Police Department said the injured juvenile was inside a car with family members when the gun went off. The call came in just after 6 p.m. yesterday, police said. Officers were on the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event. The girl was subsequently taken to the hospital where her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, police report, and she is expected to recover.
KOCO 5 further confirmed that the shooting took place around 6:17 p.m. At the time of the incident, no arrests were made, and authorities had not provided any additional details on how the shooting occurred.
As investigations continue, limited information has been made public, KFOR noted that the condition of the juvenile, at the time of their reporting, was unknown. They further stated that no further information is available as the local authorities delve deeper into the investigation.
