The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is on the hunt for a suspect following an early morning shooting in Kalamazoo yesterday. According to FOX 17, the incident took place around 2:30 a.m. near Martin Luther King Jr. Park on North Rose Street, where an altercation between two individuals escalated, resulting in one man being shot.
Officers responded quickly to the scene and found the victim with a gunshot wound. He was promptly taken to local hospital for treatment and has since been released, as further confirmed by WWMT. The shooter, however, managed to evade the authorities and is currently at large.
Investigations have been actively ongoing as the KDPS works to collect all pertinent details that would contribute to identifying and locating the suspect. The department is urging anyone with information to step forward and reach out.
