Motorists navigating Kua Road in Lāwa‘i should prepare to slow down and follow detour instructions as roadway upgrades are set to begin later this month. According to a recent notice from Kaua‘i County, the Department of Public Works and Maui Kupono Builders will be implementing a one-lane closure on portions of Kua Road, with work scheduled starting tomorrow to November 1, excluding weekends, from the morning at 8 a.m. through the afternoon until 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.
Road resurfacing is an important maintenance task aimed at improving safety and durability. Residents should adjust their schedules and routes during this time. They will have partial access to the area but should be aware that heavy machinery and commercial vehicles will be on-site.
Travelers using this route should allow extra time and follow the flaggers’ instructions to navigate changes in traffic. Drivers should also be aware that parking will not be allowed in the work zones during the project.
For further details or to raise concerns about the roadwork, you can reach Maui Kupono Builders at 808-369-1800. Alternatively, contact Todd Ozaki at Kaua‘i County at 808-241-4845.
